Introduction - Fatemeh Fattahi

Fatemeh Fattahi is working as an autonomous artist since1995. She works in Rotterdam and her works are exhibited regularly in galleries and organisations. She also works on projects for different institutions and at the private sector.

Her early works are inspired by eastern fairy tails, epics and mystical stories, althoug they are abstract. That is partly because of her studies in math and natural sciences, but the symbolic forms, the coloures, size of the pieces and their composition convay the mystery and heroism presented in these narratives.

In 2001 she began her studies in the field of autonomous arts in The Netherlands at Dutch Art Institute in Enschede. There she got more interested in romantic, dada and surreal movements in western art. In this period she uses found objects and tries other experimental and associative methodes of making images. The end result suggests a pictorial narrative, open to interpretation.  Some of the works are made during a journy to another counrty or city and have a day dream like story which reflects her feelings about her experiences in the globalized culture in The Netherlands.
